This article walks through the functionality of the Add link to message option on the Send Alert form.
Functionality
The “Add link to message” option when checked, does the following:
- Makes the content of the message visible to the public. This option should not be used for confidential internal communication.
- Posts the message to the system's RSS feed.
- The 10 most recent alerts shared by selecting “Add link to message” will be visible on the RSS feed.
- Posts the message to the Past Alerts page.
- The 10 most recent alerts shared by selecting “Add link to message” will be visible on the Past Alerts page.
- Adds links to the full message in the SMS message.
- Add all content desired to the Message Body field.
- If the text message is over 160 characters and is meant for public view:
- Check Add link to message under the Message Body field.
- Review what the message webpage will look like when the link is selected by clicking Preview.
- Review what the message webpage will look like when the link is selected by clicking Preview.
- Modify the Text Message under Message Customization to fit within 160 characters.
- Review the Text Message that will be sent under Message Preview.
- The link to the full message will be added to the Text Message.
- Check Add link to message under the Message Body field.
- When the email delivery method is selected, a link to the alert message webpage titled View message in browser is added to the bottom of the body of the email.
Note: If any messages are accidentally shared publicly by checking “Add link to message”, please contact Support to have the message hidden.
