This article will explain how duplicate weather events are handled.
All Weather Alert Destinations Filtering
A Unique Identifier that is generated by the National Weather Service (NWS) is tracked in our system. Any future weather events with the same Unique Identifier are ignored.
Our system only triggers a weather alert when the Alert Event Type is "Alert" or "Cancel." Updates are ignored.
Email/Text/Voice Weather Alert Filtering
Our system checks against past Weather Alerts sent within 30 minutes by Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) code and Subject. FIPS that have received an alert within the 30-minute window with a matching subject will be removed from the weather alert regardless of the Unique Identifier.
Note: Tornados are the exception because their status changes quickly, so all tornado events are sent.
MyAlerts Weather Alert Filtering
All weather events are sent to the MyAlerts app.
